Please join us this Tuesday at the Town Hall to hear a presentation prepared by the Berkely National Labs and Island Institute that will help the utility district chart its path to a clean energy future. This is a follow up to a previous meeting where the labs described their work scope and goals. This meeting will summarize the work they have done so far which includes building a load forecast out to 2040 given the adoption of electric vehicles, heat pumps and other electric appliance/technology transformations. They also will describe the possible steps that Block Island could take to source 100% of its energy from local on-island renewable resources. I am impressed by their work and will help us in our decision making as we look at new power supply resources.
