Rates

The Rhode Island-Public Utilities Commission approved Block Island Utility District’s rate case. The new rates went into effect June 1, 2020. There are now three rates: Residential, Commercial and General Service Demand.  Below is a summary of the rates, please see the BIPCo Tariffs and Terms document for more information.

Residential-the use is predominately for residential purposes.

Commercial-the use is predominately for commercial purposes.

General Service Demand-the rate charged when the commercial customer’s usage  exceeds 8Kw of usage for one 15 minute period.
